About The Pen Crafter
I have been a hobbyist woodworker for nearly 30 years. I started out building furniture such as hutches, dry sinks, four poster beds and other miscellaneous items. When the house became too crowded it was necessary to switch to smaller but equally challenging smaller items - predominately clocks. My first commission was to build a grandfather clock in 1975. Since that time I have built numerous wall, mantle and tall clocks. While still interested in clocks, my new passion is turning and crafting pens.
After a friend presented me with a wonderful Mont Blanc pen I began to research pens and found that my woodworking tools and experience could actually be put to use in creating distinctive pens. Since that revelation I have created hundreds of pens in a variety of styles and woods. The combinations of style, wood and accessories are virtually endless and each pen/pencil/utensil or set is truly unique.
To provide some personal information: I am a native Iowan who now resides in an East Texas retirement community. I worked in the telephony industry for 27 years before retiring in 1997. My wife Mary (married 32 years) is a retired kindergarten teacher who has become an avid crocheter, knitter and civic volunteer. We have one son who is currently (and seemingly forever) attending college. I am a member of our local volunteer fire department and am proud to be involved in helping to protect lives and property.
I hope that you enjoy visiting this site. It was designed and built by my son Jeff who, I think, has done a great job. We welcome your questions and comments.
To all of you, from me - Thank you and enjoy your new writing instrument!
